good news.
Activities marking the 2015 convocation ceremony
for the graduands kicked off on Monday, 27th
April with a lecture and it will end on Thursday,
30th April with the award of degrees to the

Federal Government has declared Friday, May 1,
2015 as public holiday to celebrate the 2015
Workers Day.
The Minister of Interior, Mr Abba Moro revealed
this in a statement through his Permanent
Secretary, Abubakar Magaji in Abuja yesterday,
April 28, 2015.
Abba congratulated all Nigerians on their
resilience and commitment in the face of the
challenges of daily living.
Abba also urged Nigerians to sustain their
support for Goodluck Jonathan in his efforts to
build a stable, peaceful and economically vibrant
nation.
Here is A statement APC released, as reported by
Sahara Reporters:
The All Progressives Congress (APC) has said
that all accredited media organizations in the
country, including the African Independent
Television (AIT), are free to cover the
activities of the President-elect, Gen.
Muhammadu Buhari.
In a statement issued in Abuja on Tuesday by
its National Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Lai
Mohammed, the party said the incoming
Buhari Administration will not discriminate
against any media organization,
irrespective of its role during the
electioneering campaign leading up to the
recent polls.
It however enjoined all media organizations
to observe the highest level of professional
standards in carrying out their duties.
”There is a Code of Ethics guiding the
practice of journalism in Nigeria, and this
demands every journalist to ensure a strict
adherence to the highest levels of ethics and
professionalism in carrying out their duties.
”There must be repercussions, within the
realms of the law, for media organizations
which have wantonly breached the Code of
Ethics of the journalism profession and
turned themselves to partisans instead of
professionals. But such repercussions will not
include barring any accredited media
organization from covering the activities of
the President-elect,” APC said.

Really Funny indeed
The Africa Independent Television (AIT) crew
members were escorted out of the Defence
House where the president-elect currently
resides.
He was about to have a meeting with the Cuban
and Switzerland
ambassadors when the reporters were escorted
out.
We gathered that directive was discreetly given
to the correspondent by an official at the
Defence House where the crew had gone to
cover the visit of Cuban ambassador to Buhari.
Speaking on the development, the spokesperson
of the Muhammadu
Buhari campaign organization, Shehu Garba
said family and security
concerns necessitated it.
“AIT has been asked to step aside based on
security and family
concerns. In addition, Buhari has decided that
they will have to
resolve some issues relating to issues of
standard and ethics.
We will be talking with them to try and resolve
the matter, but
for now the station has been asked to stay
aside because, like
I said, there are some family and security
concerns.
They have been asked to step down their
coverage until we
resolve the matter with them on ethics and
standards. You can
quote me that I said that we have asked them
to step aside and
that we are resolving the the issues of ethics
and standards
with them.”
Other half of the P-Square duo, Peter Okoye has
come out to speak on his marriage, Kids, music
and also the recent social media clash he had
with his brother, Paul Okoye … He says it’s normal
“family quarrel”. They have made up now.
Read excerpts from his interview with Vanguard
Allure :
How does it feel being married?
It feels great. I won’t say I’m more responsible now
because I have been responsible long before getting
married. I have two kids. One way marriage has
changed me is, I now know what our parents went
through in raising us.For me, I’m now more
composed. I try not to worry too much. I’m more
focused because I need to work hard to look after
my family.
Has your life changed since you became a father
and has it, in any way, affected you and your
career?
Yes, absolutely! My life has changed but it hasn’t
affected my life. I still show my six packs. I still
kiss people in the crowd. I still take my semi-nude
pictures, travel etc. I’m still me and it’s all still part
of the business.
On singing in Igbo
Sometimes, if we don’t sing in Igbo, our people will
crucify us (laughs). If you listen to P-Square, you
will hear Igbo, English, Pidgin English; even French
we try. For us, English is a universal language and
I’m not singing in Igbo to try and please my people
but I like to inculcate my culture through music.
On rumours that P-Square is planning to split or
has split.
Not at all. We just had a minor quarrel just like
everyone who has siblings would. We fight and
make-up; we fought many times last year but we
still go on stage and perform and nobody knows. I
can’t come out and say Paul and I have never
fought. It’s like a couple who has been married for
over 20 years would come out and say they have
never fought. It’s impossible; we are humans. It’s a
normal thing
On rumours their brother, Jude has resigned as
Psquare’s manager.
It’s the same thing; family quarrels. We argued and
made-up. He didn’t resign. We are still working
together and, even when we quarrel, we don’t allow
it to collide with business. There is a line drawn
there.
You guys portray an image of living luxurious
lives with jets and lavish cars. How has this
affected your image in the public eye?
It didn’t affect us. As a matter of fact, it made us
even stronger. A lot of people think we are showing
off but the truth is if we were not showing off, you
would not know what we are worth. If you see me
on okada, you won’t pay me ten million to come and
do a concert. They say, everything we do – people
post it; everything we have, we show off and that we
are not Dangote. My dear, Dangote is not in
showbiz. Whatever we do, we do because that’s the
way it’s supposed to be. What we do is show-
business. It’s a show and it’s business so that’s
what we do
A statement from Gen Buhari
signed by his media aide, Shehu
Garba.
“The fraud called Boko Haram can
be defeated by denying it a
recruitment base,” General Buhari
told visiting leaders of Nassarawa
State who came to congratulate him
on his emergence as President-
elect.
No religion allows for the killing of
children in school dormitory, in
markets and places of worship.
They have nothing to do with
religion. They are terrorists and we
are going to deal with them as they
deal with terrorists anywhere,” he
announced.
Buhari said he is greatly pained by
the destruction of schools in the
North-eastern part of the country,
an action he said could deny
thousands of youngsters access to
education and a better future
unless something was done
urgently to avert this tragedy.
“The worst thing anybody can do is
to deny children access to
education. That will be destructive
to their lives and we are not going
to allow that to happen,” the
President-elect assured.
He announce that his government
will help the states to get more
money to improve infrastructure
by ensuring that all federally
collectible revenues are paid
directly into the federation account
and each tier of government given
its due share.
“As at now, the government does
not even know how many revenue
accounts it has.
We will give all the tiers what is
due to them but will hold them to
be accountable as we would the
federal government.”
Buhari while describing Nassarawa
state as his own “political
laboratory”, meaning the only CPC-
controlled state of the 36 others
adjudged the experiment as having
been a success.
“From one state, I now have 22
political laboratories.”
He commended Governor Al-
Makura for surviving his many
impeachment plots, saying
“without Nassarawa, there would
not have been an APC.”

Former Kogi State governor, Prince Abubakar Audu, has reiterated his commitment to develop the state amidst calls for his return as governor in next year’s governorship election in the state.

He expressed his willingness to heed to the calls for him to contest the governorship election in an interview in Abuja, weekend.

“This time the electorates said it is time we bring Audu back. If one is a regular visitor to Kogi at the Koton Karfe Bridge, he will see a billboard where the masses are crying, saying: ‘Where is Audu?’ So as far, as I am concerned, it is the first step to bring me back and convincing me to come back.”

Audu was the Kogi State governor between 1999 and 2003 when the then PDP candidate, Ibrahim Idris, defeated him and went on to complete two terms in office.

But Audu said his ouster from office was not achieved through the ballot box, insisting it was the federal might that spearheaded his defeat in the election.

“They brought Air Force personal from their base and the military from their barracks in Lokoja which harassed and killed. For the first time, I saw military personnel carrying ballot boxes. That was how they rigged us out in 2003.”

The former governor lamented that Kogi State was left where it was in 2003 when he departed office, with no visible attempt by successive PDP administrations to develop it. He said that the signs of underdevelopment were obvious to any regular visitor to the state to see.

On the president-elect, Buhari, Audu said Nigerians were lucky to have elected the former head of state as president because of his known trait as a disciplined leader, adding that the country would witness rapid development within the next few years.
Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose has said he
has no regrets over his support for President
Goodluck Jonathan during the March 28
presidential poll.
Fayose made this known in a statement he issued
on Wednesday.
He said, ” It has become imperative once again to
address the media on the constitutional and
political crises being foisted on our dear State,
Ekiti by irritants of unbridled ambitions, who are
not only devoid of spirit of sportsmanship but
implacable even when all odds are against them
and roundly rejected by the good people of the
state.
“It is no longer news that I defeated an
incumbent governor in all the 16 Local
Government Areas in the State and that for the
first time in the history of Nigeria, attempts were
made to use the courts to prevent someone who
clearly won a governorship election from
assuming office.
“Since June 21, 2014 that the All Progressives
Congress (APC) suffered that humiliating defeat,
the party has suffered defeats in the entire local
government areas in Ekiti State in four other
elections, the latest being the House of Assembly
election in which APC won no single seat out of
the 26 seats.
“Ekiti people have been persistent in their
preference for me and my party, the Peoples
Democratic Party (PDP) to correct the ills of the
last four years and set the State on the path of
greatness.
“Despite that Ekiti people have consistently
spoken with their votes against the APC,
Nigerians are witnesses to the litany of illegalities
being woven by both the national leadership of
the party and its Ekiti State chapter, all in an
attempt to rob Ekiti people of the mandate freely
given to me.
“Despite receiving bloodied nose in both the
political and judicial arena in the hands of the
Ekiti masses as represented by me, these
desperate politicians are unrelenting in their
shenanigans, the latest being the information at
my disposal that even after May 29, the state
would not know peace.
“I however trust Ekiti people to do what is right in
securing peace in their land.
“I have been severally informed that I became the
prime demolition target of the APC national
leadership because of my overt and unalloyed
support for President Goodluck Jonathan during
the campaigns.
“Insiders in their party also told me that APC
leaders were also yet to get over the fact that in
the entire South-West, Ekiti was the only state
they could not “rob” for General Mohammed
Buhari (rtd). The eagle-eyed surveillance of Ekiti
people ensured that.
“I wish to declare unequivocally that I remain
loyal to President Jonathan even after May 29 as
my support for his re-election and administration
was not about bread-and-butter. I was convinced
he was moving Nigeria in the right direction,
despite all the noise. I have no regrets supporting
him. If same situation presents itself again, I
would do it all over.
“Let me state It clearly that if President Jonathan
is deserted by all Nigerians today, I, Ayodele
Fayose, would remain with him. I have chosen to
be his last-man standing.
“If for this show of loyalty to Mr President and
my party, APC and its leaders believe that the
best way to pay me back is to make Ekiti
ungovernable, the decision on appropriate reaction
belongs to the people, whose mandate I keep in
trust.
“It is ironic that those who said worse things
about the President-elect, General Muhammadu
Buhari (rtd) when they were in opposing parties,
are the ones milling around him today, using him
as an electoral talisman and demonizing us for
saying things of lesser magnitude during a
campaign that was mainly characterized by hate-
messages from both divides.
“I also want to put on record that if all PDP
members decamp to APC today, I will remain the
last-man standing for the party, even a I have no
cause to denigrate the office of the president.
“I also promise APC a robust and engaging
opposition both in the South-West, and nationally,
with me playing a prominent role.
“Let me again state that I will continue to seek
peace with my traducers and troublers of Ekiti.
“Since the Supreme Court judgement which held
my 2006 impeachment as illegal, unconstitutional,
null and void and of no effect, my preachings
have been peace. This is to see if a hand of
fellowship as urged by elders in the state and the
nation at large would bring sanity to the
opposition camp. It definitely has nothing to do
with cowardice; as Ekiti is a land of the brave.
“In alerting the international community on what
to expect from May 29 as regards the threat by
the APC to make Ekiti ungovernable, I have
decided to put on notice the United Nations (UN)
and the African Union (AU) on the imminent reign
of impunity by APC as from May 29.
“Since Ekiti people are certain to resist the
planned plundering of their land, Nigerians and
the world at large should know who to hold
responsible in the event of anarchy in Ekiti State
in particular and the entire Yorubaland.
“God bless our land.”
Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has said
that African leaders are happy over the defeat of
President Goodluck Jonathan in the March 28
presidential election.
Obasanjo made this known while speaking to an
audience at the United States Institute of Peace
in Washington DC.
The former president stated that his checks in a
number of African countries suggested they were
happy over the result of the election.
“Some Nigerians described President Jonathan as
a moving train who was stopped from collapsing
Nigeria,” he said.
The former President, who led the African Union
Observation Mission to the April 2015 General
Election in Sudan to the event, said, “I have
visited six countries since the election, they are
as happy about the results. It is good not only
for Nigeria, it is good for Africa and I believe it is
good for the world.”
He also advised African leaders to shift from the
mentality of clinching to power by all means,
urging them to demonstrate statesmanship for
the survival of the African continent.
According to Obasanjo, the President-elect, Gen.
Muhammadu Buhari, “has moved Nigeria one very
important step up in our democracy.”
He also advised African leaders to have
consultations with elders in order to promote
public accountability and pave way for leaders
who were fearful of giving up power to step down
in favour of a future of statesmanship.
Obasanjo said, “Governance reform and capacity-
building programmes, for example, are apt to look
everywhere but within. For a change, let us move
away from the melancholic issue of what is
wrong with Africa.
Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has
said that President Elect, Gen. Mohammadu
Buhari has moved Nigeria one step up in
our democracy.
The Former President also said that most
African countries he has visited were happy
with the March 28 Election results.
Obasanjo while addressing an audience an
audience at the United States Institute of
Peace in Washington DC said “I have
visited six countries since the election, they
are as happy about the results. It is good
not only for Nigeria, it is good for Africa
and I believe it is good for the world.
“Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (retd) , “has
moved Nigeria one very important step up
in our democracy.”
He urged African leaders to rethink and
reframe how to situate Africa at the centre
of inquiry. He said “Governance reform and
capacity-building programmes, for example,
are apt to look everywhere but within. For
a change, let us move away from the
melancholic issue of what is wrong with
Africa.
“If we are truly committed to invigorating
conversations about an Africa-focused,
Africa-led and Africa-driven framework for
substantive self-determination and
sustainable development, it is important to
rethink and reframe how we situate Africa
at the centre of inquiry.”
These two Hilarious men really took the Movie
industry by storm and were very close, both on
set and off Set. Actually, many people thought
they were blood related, perhaps Brothers.. But
they are not.
However Aki and Pawpaw whose real names
are Chinedu Ikedieze and Osita
Iheme respectively splitted as they stopped living
together. Not Like there was a clash between
them or something.
Chinedu Ikedieze (Aki) explains Why, speaking
with Tribune
There was no clash between us. Then, the owner
of the property wanted to use it, so we both had
to vacate the apartment. The truth must be told,
we cannot live together forever. We are adults
and someday we would get married. We are not
same twins, I am from Abia and he is from Imo.
It’s just that we are good friends. It is not bad
we go our separate ways, though; we are not far
from each other.
Famous Nigerian comedian, BasketMouth is
known for his very outspoken nature and
how he constantly disses other celebrities in
the pretense of joking.
He has now taken shots at the current
Minister of Petroleum in Nigeria, Diezani
Alison-Madueke regarding the current
controversy surrounding her office.
“In a closed society where everybody is guilty,
the only crime is getting caught. In a world of
thieves, the final sin is stupidity ” he wrote on
his Instagram post.
The Minister of Petroleum has been
embroiled in the saga of the missing money
from the coffers of the NNPC which amounts
to $20m.
Diezani Alison-Madueke says she knows
nothing about the missing funds and has
filed a suit before the Federal High Court in
Abuja to restrain members of the media from
linking her with the missing money.
As Muhammadu Buhari awaits his May 29
inauguration, the All Progressives Congress
(APC) says work has started in earnest by
the president-elect and his vice, to solve the
problems facing the country.
According to a statement by the party, the
incoming government will focus on poverty
eradication, creation of jobs among other
crucial areas needing the attention of the
government.
“Chief among these programmes include
plans to curb poverty by creating jobs and
setting up social welfare schemes that cater
to the poorest Nigerians. One of these
schemes is a Conditional Cash Transfer that
pays N5000 – N7500 monthly to 25 Million
of the poorest Nigerians over the next four
years as long as they send their children to
school and get them immunized. Another
provides free meals to children in primary
schools nationwide while there are plans to
stimulate the Agricultural sector and institute
a National Health Insurance Scheme that
provides healthcare cover for poor people for
just N500-N1000 yearly contribution,” the
statement read.
The APC said the efforts are to ensure the
promises made to the people are fulfilled.
Also, the new government will ensure that it
employs the best brains to work with him,
especially “in powerful positions in Ministries
and parastatals where the country needs
progressive and definitive action in areas like
Power, Education and Agriculture to mention
just a few”.
Buhari and Osinbajo have already begun
screening people who are being considered
for the position.
The statement said that “the APC remains
committed to executing its signature
programmes – huge policy and social
initiatives that cannot be hijacked. The
incoming regime has made it clear that
tokenism will not solve the major problems
that ail the country”.
The times have change; PDP can only win
election with a strong candidate, not just a lucky
candidate.
A member of the Board of Trustees of the
Peoples Democratic Party, Chief Ebenezer
Babatope, has said that President Goodluck
Jonathan will not run for the Presidency in 2019
against the APC.
“We have a strong presence in the South-South,
South-East and we have two governors in the
South-West. We are going to slug it out together
in the North in 2019. We are going to flush out
the APC in 2019 because we are going to correct
our mistakes and take back the central
government.
“Jonathan will not contest the 2019 presidential
election. PDP will look for a strong Hausa/Fulani
presidential candidate to contest against
General Muhammadu Buhari.
He said he was sure that the President would
not seek to contest the 2019 presidential
election although “the people of the South-South
have the right to present a candidate for the
election, I’m sure the President will not contest;
He will lead us to against the All Progressives
Congress.”
The former Minister of Transport said PDP’s
National Executive Council, the BoT and Elders’
Caucus would meet soon in Abuja to assess the
outcome of the general elections.
He said, “We are going to restructure our party.
The National Chairman of the party, Alhaji
Adamu Mu’azu, will convene a meeting in two
weeks’ time when we will objectively discuss the
last elections.
“Apart from the grand conspiracy against our
party by the powers that be in the elections, we
are going to tackle the problem of imposition,
which was a great area of mistake on our side.

Inspector General of Police, “Suleiman Abba” has
be relieved of his duty, the sack was announced
by the president’s spokesperson, Reuben Abati, in
a tweet on Tuesday.
The Deputy Inspector General of police, “Solomon
Arase” has been appointed to act in his capacity.
The sack is with immediate effect.
IGP Suleiman Abba, NPM, NPOM, mni was the
17th Indigenous Inspector-General of Police and
was appointed by President Goodluck Ebele
Jonathan, GCFR.
He formally took over on August 1, 2014 formally
from former Police boss, IGP MD Abubakar (Rtd)
who had successfully piloted the affairs of the
Force from 25th January, 2012 when he was
appointed to July 31, 2014, having completed 35
years of service.
Abba Suleiman hails from Gwaram Local
Government Area of Jigawa State holds degrees
in History and Law and has attended several
management and security courses within and
outside Nigeria. He is an alumnus of the National
Institute of Policy and Strategic Studies, Kuru,

investigation, intelligence-led policing and crime-
fighting operations.
The Senior Special Adviser to the President on
Public Affairs, Doyin Okupe, has said that he
stands by his words that the President-elect,
Muhammadu Buhari, is not an electable leader.
Okupe, on Monday said he would stand by his
words that Buhari, who he said had no West
African Senior School Certificate, was not
eligible to contest for President.
He stated on his official Facebook page,
“These are very interesting times in our
nation. An election has come and gone. A
victor has emerged and the loser has
conceded.“Yet some of our folks are
behaving as if we have just gone through a
war between two hostile nations. The APC
agents all over the place are unrelenting in
their tirades of abuses, insults and lies
against President Goodluck Jonathan, his
aides and supporters.
“It is shameful that we are still saddled with
denying falsehood and fabrications in the
social media and even by hitherto highly
respected newspapers.
“Missing $20bn found in an account in
Zenith. PGEJ returns tons of dollars to
federation accounts. N2tn spent on
elections by PGEJ. Okupe says Chibok girls
will not be found. How many lies, deliberate
falsehood and evil propaganda, outright
curses and attacks must we suffer just
because we lost an election in which we
were never disgraced?
“Buhari polled 15m (56 per cent) while
Jonathan scored 12m (46per cent). Those
who talk to us disparagingly should respect
the sentiments of the 12m Nigerians who
voted for Jonathan.
“Of course, we have our reservations about
the results but we will pass on that for
now. We have lost this election but this is
not and can never be a crime. We are all
Nigerians and having lost does not make us
less. We should be allowed to bow out
peacefully and constitutionally on the 29th
of May.
“Yes, I said Buhari was not electable. I also
said his victory will not happen. I said and I
still insist that Buhari has no WASC
certificate. I said a lot of things to promote
my candidate and many things to put his
opponent down.
“I have no regrets for any of the statements
I made. Lai Mohammed said worse. This is
the nature of politics. For anyone who
cares to listen. We will be back, period.”

#RelationshipGoals. See the 2nd pic of his
beautiful wife Sam shared below:

From what OluFamous.Com gathered, Babatunde
Fashola, Rotimi Amaechi, Prof. Tam David-West,
Dr. Kalu Idika Kalu, ex-NBA President, Rotimi
Akeredolu, Sam Ndah-Isaiah, etc will be the
leading men in the government of President
Muhammadu Buhari when it is inaugurated from
May 29.
With just weeks to the inauguration, the shape of
the new cabinet is beginning to emerge. The
position of the Secretary to the Federal
Government is between Governor Amaechi and
Chris Ngige. The FCT minister will likely go to
Governor Fashola. Minister of Petroleum will like
go to the man who said there is no subsidy and
that Nigerians can buy fuel for as low as N50
per liter.
That man is Prof. David West, who has worked
closely with Buhari before and remained loyal to
him. In all, the government may be composed of
Nigerians who are not only driven by the desire
to restore the dream of the founding fathers but
also share the modest lifestyle of Buhari.
Gen. Buhari has resolved to work with the best
and he is considering the likes of Akeredolu for
Justice; Sports may go to ex-minister, Bolaji
Abdullahi, who left Jonathan's government for
APC.
According to a Daily Sun source, “It’s the
President-elect’s personal wish to return former
Nigeria’s oil Minister, David West to the
Petroleum Ministry.”
According to him, David West is incorruptible,
frugal, and loyal even in trying times.
The source also revealed that while a lot of
qualified technocrats are being bandied about
and their names forwarded by party chiefs and
lobbyists for the minister of finance, the inner
circle of the President-elect is leaning toward the
expertise of Dr. Idika Kalu, a World Bank
specialist consultant, who, for many years,
worked with the bank’s various development
programmes catapulting the Korean economy
from the third world into its present competitive
global market.
The position of Coordinating Minister will be
scrapped, there will be an economic advisory
committee.
On security, it was gathered that Buhari is
considering one General Garba as Defence
Minister, National Security Adviser (NSA) or Chief
of Staff.
General Cyril Iweze, a then young Igbo officer
who served directly under Buhari in the First
Division before the Nigeria Civil War, may lead
the operation against Boko Haram.
General Iweze was the Nigerian Commander of
ECOMOG in Liberia. He’s reputed to have given
the Maitatsene sect hell in the defunct Gongola
State.
The source revealed that General Buhari may
constitute a Special Force made of serving and
retired officers, who would be given a mandate
to finish up Boko Haram once and for all.
Some Abuja based professionals have joined
the call to President-elect, Gen. Muhammadu
Buhari (retd.), to appoint Kano State governor
and Senator-elect, Musa Rabiu Kwankwaso,
as the next minister for the Federal Capital
Territory.
The call came on the heels of a similar
request by a group under the aegis of Abuja
Residents Forum, ARF, for the incoming
president to appoint Kwankwaso, who they
described as a person of “high pedigree” as
FCT Minister.
Spokesperson for the professionals, Ben
Agarry, explained that Abuja was in dire need
of a hardworking man, who will replicate the
achievements of a former Minister of the FCT
now Kaduna State Governor-elect, Malam
Nasir el-Rufai.
According to Agarry, the FCT would have
long witnessed more development than its
present level had Mr. el-Rufai been allowed
to remain in office as the minister all these
years.
He said, “We have seen what he did in Kano
State. As far as we are concerned, he is the
best governor in the whole of the Northern
region, and FCT deserves a person with such
proven integrity and track record.
“I was amazed with the kind of structures I
saw in Kano when I visited the last time. I
mean tangible things you can point to as
development. And you hardly see him go to
the television to make noise as some other
governors do”, he added.
Agarry insisted that they would not rest in
the demand for Kwankwaso’s appointment
when Mr. Buhari forms his cabinet after he is
sworn in as Nigeria’s President come May
29th.
“We are very serious with our demand and we
will not rest until we see it come to pass. We
are tired of ministers who end up doing
nothing all through their tenure. In fact, there
was one who only built bumps throughout
the roads of Abuja. This is not what we
want, we want meaningful development and
that is what Kwankwaso will give to us”, he
added.
Xenophobic attacks in South Africa has so
far cost Nigerians living in the country more
than N20 million, the Nigerian Consul-General
in South Africa, Amb. Uche Ajulu-Okeke, said
on Sunday.
Speaking from Johannesburg, South Africa,
the ambassador broke the loss down into
looted shops, burnt shops, two burnt
mechanic workshops, 11 burnt cars and two
stolen cars, among others.
“Nigerians have compiled damage to their
property and it is totalling about 1.2 million
Rand or N21 million, which will be sent to the
Federal Government for further action,” she
said.
Speaking further, the ambassador noted that
in Durban, two of the three Nigerians who

“The Nigerian mission in South Africa is on
top of the situation. We are working hard to
protect Nigerians in South Africa.
“Though, the task has not been easy, we are
trying our best. In one of the hot spots at
Jeppe, near Johannesburg, the mission
assisted about 50 stranded Nigerians to re-
settle.
“I have also visited the site of the attacks in
Johannesburg to assess the damage and it
was enormous,” she said.
In the meantime, the ambassador said she
would bring Nigerians in the country together
to discuss the way forward.
“I am bringing all Nigerians together so that
we work out a vigilance and alert mechanism;
they will also tell me what their challenges
and issues are,” she said.
Okeke said the mission and the Nigerian
Union had been working cordially to meet the
challenges caused by the xenophobic attacks
on Nigerians.
Mrs Awoniyi, wife of the deputy governor of
Kogi State, Yomi Awoniyi, and three others
escaped death on Saturday after an early
morning explosion rocked her residence in
Lagos.
The building located on HFB Way, at no 19B
Dolphin Estate, Ikoyi area of Lagos, was said
to have collapsed following the explosion,
trapping the deputy governor’s wife and three
others, while the driver who was outside
washing cars was injured from the explosion.
An eyewitness told Thisday that the
explosion rocked the nearby building to its
foundation and was followed by the
crumbling of blocks but no life was lost.
The four victims, who had sustained varying
degrees of injuries, were reported to have
been rushed to the hospital immediately they
were evacuated from the rubble.
South-west Zonal Spokesperson of the
National Emergency Management Agency
(NEMA), Ibrahim Farinloye confirmed the
incident. According to him, when the building
collapsed, the first line of action was to
ascertain if people were trapped underneath
the rubble after which emergency services
swung into action and were able to evacuate
the four persons trapped there.
“The building collapse was suspected to have
been caused by gas cooker explosion around
7:15 a.m. this (yesterday) morning. The
explosion and subsequent building collapse
affected three occupants, who were inside
the building at the time, and the driver who
washing the car outside.
“Although no life was lost, the four injured
persons have since been evacuated to St.

explosion.
“Afterwards, the Lagos State Building Control
Agency (LASBCA) will move in to determine
the next level of action to take,” he added.

Below is what the presidential Spokesperson
shared this morning on his Facebook page...
One of the reasons the Chibok girls were
kidnapped was to present Jonathan's
administration as incompetent and hold it
to ransom against 2015 elections.
One of the reasons the BBOG was formed
was to sustain and internationalise the
embarrassment. One of the reasons
President Jonathan lost the election was
a national and international conspiracy
predicated on this carefully
choreographed and assiduously sustained
perception.
One of the issues that will be in the hand
over notes will be the missing girls.
What is reasonable and expedient for well
meaning men and women of good
conscience is to dialogue with the
incoming administration on what best
new approach to employ to find and
rescue the chibok girls.
Not much can be achieved, except
mischief, by continuing to flog this
administration on this matter.
I REST MY CASE.

One year after Nyanya bomb blast,
security operatives still barricade the road
going up Nyanya flyover, causing
motorists of Mararaba, Nyanya, Karu,
Jikwoyi and environs untold hardship.
The Nyanya park has been relocated to
the roadside by the market, causing
heavy traffic gridlock, especially in the
morning rush hour. Please kindly use your
blog to help us appeal to relevant
authorities for the road and the park to
be reopened.
It didn't take five days before reopening
Emab plaza after the bomb explosion
there, so why is this one different? We
have suffered too much on account of
this. Imagine spending four hours in
traffic for a journey that ordinarily takes
ten to fifteen minutes. By the time one
gets to work, it's already 10-11am,
depending on when one leaves the house.
Exhaustion and tension then renders one
less effective for that day. In the long
run, this affects the nation's GDP, since
productivity is reduced. Thanks in
anticipation that you will share our plight
with the world to hear.

Niger State governor, Dr. Babangida Aliyu, has
explained why Peoples Democratic Party lost
massively at both national and state elections .
The who governor spoke in Minna as a special
guest of honour at the convocation lecture of
the Federal University of Technology claimed
that PDP's defeat was not surprising to
Nigerians, adding that the defeat was as a result
of the refusal of the party to adhere to the
single term agreement.
"Many of us saw it coming. When I
reminded us that we had an agreement
for one term(that President Goodluck
Jonathan had agreed to run for one
term), they nearly crucified me. When I
led the G7(group of seven aggrieved PDP
governors), they did not do what we
wanted them to do until five members
left and they did what we asked them to
do.
“I recall also that when APC came on
board, I was the first person to say I was
very happy that ‘now, we have a strong
party to put PDP on its toes’ and many
people were asking that ‘are you really a
member.Up until the last elections, the
allegation against me had always been
that I was a supporter of APC; and now,
you have seen the results , " Aliyu said:
The governor also pointed out other reasons he
believed were responsible for PDP's massive
failure at the polls.
JOHANNESBURG – The South African government has been given 48 hours to stop xenophobic attacks on foreign nationals and their shops or else their companies abroad will be shut down.
An official with the newly elected All Progressive Congress (APC), Tolu Adesanya, confirmed to eNCA that they handed down a memorandum to the South African embassy in Lagos on Wednesday.

In the memorandum, the APC party officials and members of civil society groups have demanded that South Africa take swift action against attacks on foreign nationals.
Adesanya said that Nigeria will shut down South African businesses if their demands are not met by South Africa.

“We actually handed a letter to the South African embassy yesterday, making them aware that we are not happy with what is going on in South Africa. Should there be any more attacks, we are going to shut down South African businesses in Nigeria. That is MTN, Multi Choice, Shoprite etc,” said APC official Tolu Adesanya.

APC officials and civil rights groups planned to march to a South African embassy on Thursday.

Thursday’s march has been supported by African Diaspora Forum.

ADF’s Vice Chairman Jean-Pierre Lukamba told eNCA that “actually they (Nigerians) don’t have a choice”.

South African companies in other African countries include cellphone company MTN, retail giant Shoprite, and satellite TV provider Multi Choice among others.

Cement Company AfriSam has branches in Tanzania, Uganda, Botswana, Lesotho and Swaziland and other countries.

MTN’s Group Executive for Corporate Affairs in South Africa said that the South African mobile company “is condemning what is happening in South Africa.”

“MTN cannot condone any acts of violence against any people be it foreign nationals. We believe that more could still be done to ensure general safety of people in South Africa,” said MTN’s group Executive for Corporate Affairs, Chris Maroleng.

Markets and Investment analyst Clive Ramathibela-Smith has said that attacks on foreign owned businesses could lead to a serious crisis.

“Foreign investment is very critical. Based on our GDP, South Africa receives over half a trillion rands of foreign investments on yearly basis. That means that when we actually don’t look good to the international market that we have a problem to answer to other foreign countries.”

An associate Professor at Wits’ school of Economic and Business Sciences, Chris William Callaghan, said xenophobia is sending a message that the world should stop investing in South Africa.

Zambia's biggest private radio station Q FM has announced on its Facebook page that it has "indefinitely blacked out the playing of South African music in protest against xenophobic attacks on foreign nationals taking place in that country".

The station feels duty bound to voice out in protest at the attacks on foreign nationals by South Africans by stopping the air play of their music.

The government of South Africa has pleaded with Nigeria and other nations in Africa affected by the ongoing xenophobic attacks in the country.

South Africa’s Minister of International Relations and Cooperation, Maite Emily Nkoana-Mashabane, who met with Ambassadors and High Commissioners from African countries in South Africa, noted that

“it is therefore with a deep sense of pain and regret that we as the South African Government humbled ourselves before the African diplomatic community; and we expressed, through them, our heartfelt apologies to the African continent and people for the actions of those of our citizens who have behaved in a shameful manner”.
“In the new Constitution of our free and democratic South Africa, we made a promise to ourselves and to the world that we would remain committed to the values of human dignity, the achievement of equality and the advancement of human rights and freedoms, non-racialism, non-sexism and the rule of law”.
“Furthermore, at the core of our foreign policy is the commitment we have made to the world that we will always prioritise Africa in all our endeavours because we are an integral part of the African continent”.
“South Africa’s transition to democracy was one of the world’s most iconic testimonies of tolerance and peaceful co-existence, ”
“The South African Government will also do everything within its power to ensure the safety of all citizens and foreign nationals irrespective of their status. South Africa is a multicultural society that welcomes and promotes interaction among people of different backgrounds,” she said.
“It is in this regard that South Africa has since the advent of democratic governance in 1994, worked cordially with fellow African countries to consolidate bilateral relations that are flourishing politically, economically and socially”.
“Ubuntu is the central concept of social and political organisation in the African global outlook, consisting of the principles of sharing and caring for one another.
This is better captured in the Sepedi adage Motho ke motho ka batho, which means, generally speaking, that to be human is to affirm one’s humanity by recognising the humanity of others and establish mutually respectful relations with them,” she said.

Governor Abiola Ajimobi of Oyo State during the
eighth-day Fidau prayer for the late Chief Imam
of Ibadanland, Sheikh Baosari Haruna , said he
had to flee his official residence after opponents
directed evil traditional sacrifices at him.
Mr. Ajimobi on Thursday explained why he had
to relocate from the Government House to his
private residence in Ibadan . According to him ,
some desperate politicians did their best to
send him out of Government House at all cost
through many devilish means.
“They first came to you Alfas to give
them prayers that will send me out of
office, but my own Alfa prayers
superseded that of these desperate
politicians.Every morning, I always go out
on exercise. If you know the Government
House very well, it has many interchange,
popularly called `orita’, I see all kinds of
sacrifices (ebo) placed in all these
junctions. Worried by these developments,
some of you my Alfas here advised me to
move out of the Government House to
render their evil plots useless,’’he said.
The governnor said his reason for fleeing was
because he was afraid of imminent defeat as no
governor had ever been re-elected for second
term in the history of the state. He said he had
to leave “to thwart the evil plots of these
desperate politicians’’.
Mr. Ajimobi thanked the people of Oyo State for
voting him in as governor of the state for
another four years and promised to repay their
faith in him
