D'banj has been commended by the president of
World Bank, Korean-American physician and
anthropologist Jim Yong Kim for his devotion to
the African Union's year of Women's
empowerment, where he is encouraging global
artists to raise awareness about poverty and
other related issues. What Kim wrote on his
Facebook page about D'banj above...
Rivers State Governor, Mr. Rotimi Amaechi
has said that Nigeria has no money
anywhere and that is why state governors
are finding it hard to pay salaries, the
outgoing governor also predicted that tough
times await the governor-elect, Chief
Nyesom Wike.
Ameachi made this statement during a
special thanksgiving service held by the
Greater Together Campaign Organisation
(GTCO), the campaign outfit of the Rivers
All Progressives Congress (APC)
governorship candidate, Dr. Dakuku
Peterside.
He said When I said sometime last year
that Nigeria’s finances was in a dire strait,
some people referred to me as an alarmist.
Since I made that statement in December
last year, the statutory allocation to the
state has continued to decline.
“Now, almost all the states are finding it
difficult to pay salaries. The state
government owes civil servants their April
salaries and pensioners’ four months’ salary
arrears because the state does not have
the money to pay them.
“Some people have chosen to make an
issue of the difficulty we are currently
experiencing in paying the salaries of civil
servants as well as the arrears of our
retirees. It is not our making.
“No government will deliberately refuse to
pay the salaries of its workers. We will pay
as soon as we receive our share of our
statutory monthly allocation from the
Federal Government.
“It is not easy to joggle the payment of
salaries and the implementation of capital
projects that are actually geared towards
developing the state, creating jobs and
improving the economy of the state
because more monies go into the society
when you award contracts and pay the
contractors on time so that they can also
pay their workers on time.”
Ameachi also alleged that a newly
promoted Commissioner of Police, Mr. John
Amadi, who served as Deputy
Commissioner of Police (DCP) in-charge of
Operations in the state, during the general
election made an attempt on his life.
He said “I will say to all of you that there is
a man called John Amadi, former Deputy
Commissioner of Police, who sat down and
ran a programme to embarrass the APC
and embarrass the incoming federal
government; even after Buhari had won the
presidency. Now, to embarrass us further, I
hear he has been promoted to a
Commissioner of Police and transferred out
of Port Harcourt. He will come back. John
Amadi will come back; you will see. The
only way he will not come back is if we
don’t form government, but if we form
government, he will account for his actions.
“After John Amadi, an Assistant
Commissioner of Police in Khana said it is
mutiny to take on the federal government,
and sat down and fought APC as if he was
a PDP member. I don’t know whether he
has been promoted or not, but if he has
been promoted, he will also come back.
That one does not require a judge. The
Inspector General of Police (IG) can
promote them as he wants; he can even
promote them up Assistant Inspector-
General of Police, but they must all
account for their actions.
“John Amadi intended to kill me and I will
tell you how. On my way to my village to
go and vote, I ran into some criminals
attacking an APC member and I stopped. I
stopped with the intention to rescue the
gentle man and arrest those people, as
governor. I did not know that they had
given instruction to my own security not to
obey me.
“So, when I told the policemen to arrest
them, they were just standing. On further
inquiries, I was told that we were told not
to go anywhere they were voting. When I
asked the C4I to reinforce security, John
Amadi called them back and asked them to
leave there. The only thing that saved me
and saved the situation was that the
Brigade Commander sent in soldiers.
“The soldiers sent the criminals away and
the people were speaking my language
saying, ‘somebody will die here now’ and
who was that somebody, other than me?
My SSS men were watching, my policemen
were watching and my life was at risk. I am
supposed to be the governor of Rivers
State; the so-called Chief Security Officer.”
Ameachi also described President-Elect,
Gen. Mohammadu Buhari as a man who
upholds the rule of law, he said “The
president-elect, General Muhammadu
Buhari, is a man of rule of law. He will not
punish anybody without following due
process. Let us ask the incoming federal
government to punish whoever contravened
the law.”
While delivering his valedictory speech at the
special thanksgiving and farewell service
organized by Aso Villa Chapel yesterday May
17th, President Jonathan asked for forgiveness
from those who might have felt offended by any
of the moves his government made, stating that
such moves were not intended to deliberately
hurt anyone. He said no human institution is
ever perfect. He urged everyone to pursue work
towards a better Nigeria even as they leave
government positions.
"No system is perfect. Every human
system must have an element of
imperfection. For the period of eight years
that we have been here. I will take the
period as a block because my transition
from VP to President was gradual and
complicated. It was intertwined so you
cannot actually draw the line. Because
when the President was challenged within
major health issues, I was running the
country for sometimes even before the
doctrine of necessity made me as acting
president. Then I took over at first and
conducting the 2011 election I won and I
had to run my full four years as an
elected president. So for the eight that
one has been there, definitely one is not
perfect. We have certainly done things
that probably we wouldn’t have done that
way, but we didn’t do things deliberately.
So for those who we have offended it
was not deliberate, it was circumstances
of the office. So we also plead that those
people should forgive, we think we have
done our best. You can do your best and
your friends may misunderstand you.
Today we are talking about leaving, it is
only God that knows why things go the
way they do.We came in as Vice President
and my wife, today we are leaving as the
former president and former First Lady.
We have achieved it through you. Let me
specifically thank the chaplain, the
clergymen, the pastors and their wives.
For the past eight years we have every
reason to be thankful to God. Every
individual has his/her own calling. I also
believe that people who take over political
leadership have their own callings to do
specific things. No one, head of a
government, be it at the national level or
the sub- regional levels can do every
thing. But when you leave, you will want
to do something to show that yes I was
here. The chaplain has said that nothing
is perfect, if you wait for perfection, you
cannot achieve anything. Ordinarily 24th
of May would haven been the last Service
here. But that 24th, we will all go to the
National Christian Centre for the
inauguration service. So for me and my
wife, this is our last day of worship here.
Though we are leaving as president and
First Lady, but we have not left you,
because we are still in this country, we
will continue to interact one way or the
other, probably along the line we may
even come closer. I believe some of you
may even come closer, and even do more
meaningful things together when we leave
office. I don’t really believe that it is only
in government that you can do thing, even
outside government you do a lot of
things. The richest people in the world
don’t even serve in government. Dangote
has never been in government, so you
don’t need to be in government to be
rich. Bill Gates has not been in
government. So outside government a lot
of things happen, it is for us to be
committed and continue to be focus. Me
and my wife really love all of you.”he said

Ekiti state Governor, Ayo Fayose has replied
Mu'azu's claims , that the Peoples Democratic
Party, PDP will be buried if he resigns. Fayose
said that Mu’azu did not have the clout to break
the PDP , Punch reports. The governor said:
''The PDP cannot break under any
circumstance. Secondly, Mu’azu as
chairman or not, cannot and will not
break the PDP. Mu’azu is not a force
enough to break PDP. How can a man
who cannot win his ward, local
government and state say the PDP will
be buried if he resigns?''
President Goodluck Jonathan says he believes
that him and his ministers will be persecuted
after May 29 .He said this on Sunday during
then thanksgiving and farewell service organised
in his honour at the Cathedral Church of the
Advent, Life Camp, Gwarinpa, Abuja
According to him ,his administration took “ hard
decisions” while in office and this could lead to
persecution .Jonathan told the congregation that
he understood clearly that “ hard decisions” had
their own cost and was therefore ready to pay
any price for them .
“I believe there are reasons for
everything. Some hard decisions have
their own cost; and there is no doubt
about that. That I have run the
government this way that stabilised
certain things, the electoral process and
other things that brought stability to this
country. They are very costly decisions
which I must be ready to pay for. Some
people come to me and say this or that
person, is he not your friend that
benefitted? Is it not your government that
this person benefitted from? But this is
what the person is saying. But I used to
say that worse statements will come. If
you take certain decisions, you should
know that those close to you will even
abandon you at some point," he said
“And I tell them that more of my so-
called friends will disappear. When de
Klerk took the decision to abolish
minority rule in South Africa, even his
wife divorced him. I hope my wife will not
divorce me. But that is the only decision
that has made South Africa to be a
global player now. If they still have
minority rule, by this time, nobody will
be talking about them.If you take certain
decisions, it might be good for many but
it might affect others differently. So, for
ministers and aides who served with
me, I sympathise with them because they
will be persecuted. They must be ready
for persecution.
“Quoting Tai Solarin, may your ways be
rough, I say to my ministers, I wish you
what I wish myself. They will have hard
times, we will all have hard times. Our
ways will be rough,”he added.
The president however said it was most
important that the ordinary Nigerians
appreciated what he did and that made him
happy

“The medical experts who attended to OJB at
the Lagos Hospital were shocked at the sudden
relapse despite last year’s successful kidney
transplant. They chided him for not going back

by the team of Indian doctors in the medical
report given to him”.
When contacted, his third wife, Korede said
“I don’t want to say anything about it unless
he talks about it himself. Have you called

This juicy, y'all need to read it. Former African
Footballer of Year, Togolese footballer Emmanuel
Adebayor has been having a running battle with
his family for years. His sister has gone to the
media a few times to claim he doesn't take of
them and has turned his back on them, plus
other accusations. She even claimed that
Emmanuel kicked their mother (above) out of his
house in November 2014.
The Tottemham striker took to Facebook
yesterday to give a lengthy insight into his
complicated personal life. He listed the things
he's done for his family and basically accused
them of using him for his money, stealing from
him and being ungrateful. Read it after the cut...

A couple years ago, I bought a house in East
Lagon (Ghana) for $1.2 million. I found it normal
to let my older sister, Yabo Adebayor stay in that
house. I also allowed my half brother (Daniel) to
stay in the same house. A few months later, I
was on vacation and decided to go to that
house. At my surprise, I saw many cars in the
driveway. In fact, my sister decided to rent out
the house without me knowing. She also kicked
Daniel out of that house. Note that the house
had about 15 rooms. When I called her and
asked for explanation, she took about 30
minutes to abuse and insult me over the phone. I
called my mother to explain the situation and
she did the same as my sister. This same sister
says I am ungrateful. Ask her about the car she
is driving or anything she is selling today?
My brother Kola Adebayor, has now been in
Germany for 25 years. He travelled back home
about 4 times, at my expense. I fully cover the
cost of his children's education. When I was in
Monaco, he came to me and asked for money to
start a business. Only God knows how much I
gave him. Where is that business today?
When our brother Peter passed away, I sent Kola
a great amount of money so he could fly back
home. He never showed up at the burial. And
today that same brother (Kola) is telling people
that I am involved in Peter's death. How? He is
the same brother who went and told inaccurate
stories about our family to "The Sun" in other to
take some money. They also sent a letter to my
Club when I was in Madrid so I could get fired.
When I was in Monaco I thought it would be
good to have a family of footballers. So I made
sure my brother Rotimi gets into a football
academy in France. Within a few months; out of
27 players, he stole 21 phones.
I would not say any anything about my brother
Peter Adebayor because he is not here today.
May his soul rest in peace.
My sister Lucia Adebayor keeps telling people
that my dad told me to bring her to Europe. But
what would be the purpose to bring her to
Europe ? Everyone is here for a reason.
I was in Ghana when I received the news about
my brother Peter being seriously ill. I drove the
fastest I could to Togo in order to meet him and
help. When I arrived, my mother said I could not
see him and I should just give the money and
she would solve everything. Only God knows
how much I gave her that day. People are saying
I didn't do anything to save my brother, Peter.
Am I a fool to drive 2 hours to Togo for nothing?
I organized a meeting in 2005 to solve our family
issues. When I asked them about their opinion,
they said I should build each family member a
house and give each of them a monthly wage.
Today I am still alive and they have already
shared all my goods, just in case I die.
For all these reasons, it took very long for me to
set up my foundation in Africa. Every time I try
to help the people in need, they had to question
me and all of them thought it was a bad idea.
If I am writing this, the main purpose is not to
expose my family members. I just want other
African families to learn from this. Thank you.
Nobel Laureate Wole Soyinka has described the
Igbos as people who can be predicted when it
comes to voting. According to him, the Igbos
vote based on their stomach and have an
incurable money mindedness. Prof. Soyinka said
this while delivering a lecture titled 'Predicting
Nigeria, Electoral Ironies’ at Harvard University
Hutchins Centre for African and African American
Research", in Cambridge, Massachusetts, USA.
"Igbos remained unrepentant and resolute
towards their strategic objective of
secession at worst; or a Nigerian
president of Igbo extraction at best,” he
said at the lecture which held on April 29.
"The climax of MASSOB’s war against the
Nigerian state was the call for sit-ins and
civil disobedience that shut down markets
and public services, as Igbos stayed at
home in a symbolic gesture to assert
Biafran independence. The call was
honoured by governors in the two
principal Ibo states, though without
fanfare. The Igbos are probably the only
group of Nigerians that you can predict
with great accuracy whom they will vote
for in an election, because they tend to
put their votes where their stomachs take
them; suffering as it were, from incurable
money-mindedness, as they would stop at
nothing in their quest for personal
financial gain. Muhammadu Buhari was
the better of the two evils as the
incumbent president Goodluck Jonathan
had been an unmitigated disaster and
failure. It was a painful decision to tell
people to vote Buhari, but the country
needed a new beginning. I was more
against Jonathan, than I was pro-Buhari.
“Nothing is more unworthy of leadership
than to degrade a system by which one
attains fulfillment, and this is what the
nation witnessed time and time again
under Jonathan, who was increasingly
becoming intolerant of opposition in an
escalating streak of impunity and
authoritarian madness, which was most
blatant and unconscionable. The
‘militricians’ – soldiers turned politicians
in power – aren’t looking for excellence;
their civilian cohorts are worse. Short cuts
and how to circumvent the system for the
profit of a few are the norm of
governance. Those who do honest work
are derided as lacking the skill to fit it.
Ironically, things haven’t quite changed a
bit after 16 years of democracy in the
country.” he said
Ekiti state Governor Ayo Fayose says he has
evidence to prove that the chairman of PDP,
Adamu Muazu sold their party to the opposition,
APC before the elections.
In a statement he released through his Special
Assistant on Public Communications and New
Media, Lere Olayinka today May 5th, Fayose said
he wondered why President Jonathan will lose
Bauchi state to the APC when the party
chairman Adamu Muazu, FCT Mininster and the
state Governor Isa Yuguda are from that state.
What he said after the cut...
"How do we explain the PDP losing so
scandalously in Bauchi State, despite the
presence of the National Chairman,
Federal Capital Territory Minister and the
state governor? I am even more particular
about the National chairman because he
sold the party to the opposition. I have
cogent evidences of his unholy alliance
with the opposition before the elections
and if they go any further, I will expose all
his underhand deals. I want to say it
again that I have no apology for calling
for the resignation of the NWC members,
especially the National Chairman. After
all, someone resigned his position as the
National Chairman for Alhaji Mu’azu to
assume office. Lastly, let me say it
categorically that they can only attempt
to destroy this party for the moment, not
forever. Sooner or later, they will all fade
away and PDP will rise again.” the
statement read
The Minister of Finance and Co-ordinating
Minister for the Economy, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-
Iweala, yesterday, put to rest fears of immediate
removal of fuel subsidy, as she confirmed that
N145.2 billion provision was made for it in 2015
budget.
Speaking to newsmen in Abuja, she said: “I want
to clarify that there has been some
misinformation that has gone around in the
media about the fact that the National Assembly
passed the 2015 budget without provision for
fuel subsidy. It is not true. It is important to
note that the National Assembly approved the
N100 billion provisions for PMS and N45.2 billion
provision for kerosene subsidy.
They approved that. So it is not true that they
approved the budget without the subsidy. They
retained various elements of the first line
charges we put in. But let me say that they were
based on the above parameters. The gross
federally collectable revenue for the federation
increased by N169.845 billion. From N9.64
trillion to N9.78 trillion as a result of raising the
benchmark price by a dollar.
The minister further stated that managing the
economy since the crash in oil prices had been
very tough for her team which had to adopt
various strategies to keep the economy running.
She said: “As you know, I have been honest with
you since the current economic problems
started. I would like to repeat: we have serious
challenges, things have been tough since the
beginning of the year and they are likely to
remain so till the end of the year. We have
serious challenges but we also have strengths
and if we do the right things we can keep a
steady course and emerge out of the current
situation.
“As a result of the 50 per cent decline in oil
revenues, the country has faced a difficult cash
crunch and the Federal Government has focused
on keeping the economy stable and the
government running through a series of
measures. We have front-loaded the borrowing
programme to manage the cash crunch in the
economy.
Okonjo-Iweala said the Federal Government had
already utilised more than half of the budgetary
provisions for borrowing in the year, in the first
four months to pay salaries and provide funds
for overheads.
Govt borrows N473bn to meet up with recurrent
expenditure She said: “Of the N882 billon
budgetary provision for borrowing, the
government has borrowed N473 billion to meet
up with recurrent expenditure, including salaries
and overheads. No capital release so far.
“Traditionally, the first part of the year witnessed
low revenue because tax receipts come in from
the middle of the year. This has compounded the
challenges caused by the steep drop in revenues
due to the oil price fall. As a consequence of the
revenue challenges, there has been no capital
budget release so far this year but we have kept
the recurrent expenditure going."
“On the part of the Federal Government; now,
Federal Government budget revenue went up
from N3.52 trillion from a position of N3.358
trillion so when we sent in the budget, Federal
Government revenue was N3.358 trillion. They
returned it with a slight difference of N3.452
trillion.
On the expenditure side, the aggregate
expenditure part was higher than what we went
in with. The Federal Government went in with a
proposed aggregate expenditure of N4.42 trillion
and the National Assembly cast expenditure of
N4.49 trillion, which was N67.43 billion higher
than the proposed expenditure. Debt service was
left unchanged at N943.62 billion.
The National Assembly increased statutory
transfers; you know, these are transfers that go
to the MDGs like the National Assembly itself,
NDDC, UBEC, Human Rights Commission and
others. I will not read of these but just know
that the National Assembly increased NDDC.
She stated that, “the fiscal deficit was decreased
slightly from N1.067 trillion to N1. 04 trillion but
the essential thing to note is that the fiscal
deficit decreased from 11 per cent to 1. 09 per
cent so this is a difficult budget but a
responsible one.
President-elect Gen Buhari met with Mr Tunde
Thompson, one of the journalists he jailed for
disobeying Decree 4 during his administration in
1984. Decree 4 was enacted by Gen Buhari to
checkmate the authenticity of press reports, a
policy many believed was against the freedom of
speech. Both men met at a media parley the
president elect had with his media campaign
team in Abuja yesterday May 5th. Mr Thompson
now works with Gen Buhari's media team. Gen
Buhari told him that jailing him, at that time was
one of the challenges of his administration then.
He appreciated his media team for carrying out a
decent campaign for him during the election
"I want to commend you especially for
two things. First, is the decent media
campaign you conducted despite the
PDP’s dirty tactics, you stayed focused on
issues and avoided the temptation to
sling mud. I thank you for your
uncommon motivation to do the work.
Despite the lean budget on which we ran
our campaign, you did not allow the lack
of adequate remuneration to stall the
work at any point in time. You continued
to give your best"he said

than to degrade a system by which one
attains fulfillment, and this is what the
nation witnessed time and time again
under Jonathan, who was increasingly
becoming intolerant of opposition in an
escalating streak of impunity and
authoritarian madness, which was most
blatant and unconscionable.The

in power – aren’t looking for excellence;
their civilian cohorts are worse. Short
cuts and how to circumvent the system
for the profit of a few are the norm of
governance. Those who do honest work
are derided as lacking the skill to fit it.
Ironically, things haven’t quite changed a
bit after 16 years of democracy in the
country,” he said.
